A Tanzanian national drowned while on a fishing expedition in Lake Victoria near Ngothe Island in Suba North Sub-County, Homa Bay County, on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Emmanuel Odhiambo, alias Ndogo Nyota 3.
Police officers visited the area and, with the assistance of fishermen from the beach, launched a search for the missing man.
The search team later retrieved the body from the lake. Police reported that there were no visible injuries.
The body was moved to Suba North Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation, pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning are ongoing.
Elsewhere, police in Thika West, Kiambu County, have launched investigations after the badly decomposed body of an unidentified man was found floating in water at a quarry near Kiboko Estate.
The body was discovered on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in the UTI-Quarry area, within the Prison Quarry, during patrol duties by an officer from Thika Prison.
According to police, the officer was on patrol at around 9:30 a.m. when he came across the body and reported the matter to the authorities.
Police reported that the body had no visible injuries, although it was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel processed the scene before the body was removed to Thika General Kago Mortuary for preservation, autopsy and identification.
The postmortem examination is expected to help establish the cause of death, while efforts to identify the deceased and determine how he ended up in the quarry continue.
And a 23-year-old man believed to be a member of a street family died after collapsing along Second Avenue near Equity Roundabout in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Musyioki Wambua, was reportedly found lying on the ground after he became unwell and expressed a desire to be taken to hospital.
Wambua’s friend reported the death prompting the police to visit the scene and found the deceased lying in a supine position.
Police reported that there were no visible injuries on the body. The deceased had allegedly complained of feeling unwell before collapsing and succumbing.

The body was subsequently removed to the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
