Teachers Service Commission Announces 24,000 Internship Opportunities For Junior Secondary School Teachers


The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened applications for 24,000 internship positions aimed at supporting the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) across junior secondary schools nationwide.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Commission invited qualified candidates to apply for the one-year internship program designed to boost teaching capacity in junior schools.

“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum,” the notice stated.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Kenyan citizenship.
  2. A diploma in education with at least a mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects at KCSE or an equivalent qualification.
  3. Registration with the Teachers Service Commission. Candidates with equivalent qualifications should refer to the TSC website for guidance.

Important Application Guidelines

  • Only online applications will be accepted; manual submissions will not be considered.
  • Applicants must be unemployed and have no prior disciplinary exits from the teaching service.
  • Original academic and professional certificates must be presented during verification.
  • Candidates must have personal accident insurance coverage for the internship duration.
  • Selection will be merit-based and aligned with the number of vacancies available per county.
  • Candidates may accept only one internship offer.
  • Successful interns will be posted to junior schools within the sub-county or elsewhere in the county where vacancies exist.
  • Interns will be expected to teach various subjects under the Junior School Curriculum.

Required Documents for Verification

  • Teacher Registration Certificate or TSC online portal printout.
  • National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card (if applicable).
  • National ID card or passport.
  • Two recent passport-size color photographs.
  • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Application Process and Deadlines

Interested and qualified candidates should apply online via the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke under the “Careers” section or directly through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

The application portal opens on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and closes at midnight on Monday, September 9, 2025.

The 12-month internship program aims to strengthen the implementation of the CBC across Kenya’s junior secondary schools.
