Police in Tana River County contained a flare-up of inter-community clashes in Galedyertu Sub-county that left at least 10 people injured.
The violence broke out on the morning of March 27, 2026, in the Tangamano cluster area following a dispute over land occupancy between members of the Wardei and Pokomo communities.
Police established that the clashes involved the use of crude weapons, including pangas and arrows, resulting in injuries on both sides.
Five people from each community were hurt in the confrontation.
All ten injured individuals were rushed to Hola Referral Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
Security teams have since restored calm in the area, with authorities urging both communities to maintain peace as efforts to resolve the underlying land dispute are escalated to higher administrative levels.
Police say the situation is currently under control but remains under close monitoring to prevent further violence.
Meanwhile, police in Kiambu County have launched investigations into a robbery with violence incident reported.
The incident was reported by the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a resident of Iguta Estate in Thindigua.
The complainant stated that at approximately 1:00 a.m., he and other occupants were awakened by two unknown assailants armed with machetes.
The suspects reportedly gained access to the compound by cutting through the electric perimeter fence before entering the main house through a door that had not been securely locked.
During the incident, the attackers stole cash amounting to Sh4,000 and USD 900, as well as three mobile phones— a Samsung Galaxy Ultra, a Redmi Note 11, and a Samsung A72. The total value of the stolen devices is yet to be established.
No injuries were reported during the robbery.
Police have intensified efforts to trace the suspects and are appealing to members of the public with any information that may assist in the investigation to report to the nearest police station.
