Three individuals lost their lives instantly when a truck veered off course and struck pedestrians along the road in Kijauri, Nyamira County, on Sunday night.
According to police reports, the Canter was transporting goods from Gusii when it experienced brake failure while descending a steep incline in Kijauri.
Additionally, three other individuals sustained injuries in the incident.
In a separate occurrence, several individuals suffered serious injuries when a tree fell on a matatu near the exit of Karura Forest along Limuru Road.
This incident transpired just a few meters before the Canadian Embassy in Nairobi, while the vehicle was in motion.
Furthermore, at least two individuals were killed in separate road accidents reported in Nairobi.
Five others are currently receiving treatment for their injuries, as stated by the police.
The first incident occurred on Sunday along Outering Road near the Kiamaiko area, involving an unidentified motor vehicle and a male pedestrian.
The vehicle was traveling from Kariobangi towards Ruaraka when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the road from left to right, resulting in his immediate death.
The deceased has been transported to the city morgue for identification purposes.
An incident occurred along the Thika Super Highway near the drive-in footbridge, involving an unidentified vehicle that did not stop and an unknown adult male pedestrian.
The vehicle was traveling from the city center towards Kasarani when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the road from left to right.
Consequently, the pedestrian suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have stated that they are conducting an investigation into the accident.
