OkThe prosecution arraigned three more suspects, including a police officer following the murder of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
Dr Mutiso was shot on July 29, 2026 in Upper Hill, Kilimani sub-County, Nairobi County.
The suspects are Police Constable Collins Bett Kilangat, Pius Muiruri Mbugua, and Samuel Karanja Gathoni.
Bett and Karanja were arrested on 29th August 29, 2026 at Kyanja Height Flats, Nakawa Suburb in Kampala City within the Republic of Uganda before they were deported back to Kenya.
The third suspect was arrested in Ongata Rongai area.
Their deportation was as per the order of Chief Magistrate Aisu Nicholas of Buganda Road at City Hall Court.
Senior Principal Magistrate Theresiah Nyangena allowed an application by the prosecution and directed that the suspects remain in custody for a period of 30 days for investigation officers to complete investigations.
The prosecution informed the court that the three suspects played vital roles in the brutal murder of Dr Mutiso, formerly Director of the African Institute of Mental and Brain Health, who was shot on July 29, 2026 in Upper Hill, Kilimani Sub-County, Nairobi County.
Court heard that Bett and Muiruri were among the planners in the execution of Dr Mutiso and have been in constant communication with Kenneth Sang, a senior police officer whose firearm, a mini Jericho, had been issued to him, was used to commit the offence.
Karanja was a driver of a motor vehicle, a Toyota Prado, which was trailing the deceased before the Uber she had boarded.
It is alleged that the suspects were surveilling the deceased’s movements before and even on the fateful day.
Sang is still on the run.
Nyangena directed that Police Constable Bett be detained at Ruaraka police station, Pius Muiru Mbugua be detained at Kileleshwa police station, while Samuel Karanja Gathoni will be detained at Milimani police station for a period of 30 days.
The prosecution has already approved murder charges against politician Rose Mbithe, her daughter Angela Mulwa, her son Chris Mulwa and Police Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi.
They are expected to plead to murder charges on September 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, Angela Mulwa and former Nairobi Member of County Assembly Nelson Masiga were charged with conspiring to steal a Sh15m car belonging to the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health.
