Three-year-old child found dead after being trapped by mud wall in Suguta Mar Mar, Samburu County


A three-year-old child was found dead after he had been trapped in a mud wall in their compound in Suguta Mar Mar, Samburu County.

Police said the family had on February 23 demolished part of their house and left a corner wall standing.

The following day, the boy went to play at the scene unnoticed by his parents. It was then that the wall collapsed and trapped him fatally.

The family realized he was missing prompting a brief search that discovered the body. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Mpeketoni, Lamu County, a seven-year-old boy and a grade two pupil at Sinambio Primary School was found drowned in a dam.

He had gone to take care of their goats when he failed to return home.

This prompted a search that led the team to the dam where his clothes were found.

His body was later retrieved from the water and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and burial on the same day on February 24.

Elsewhere in the Kogola village, Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, one Clement Kotonga, 85 was found dead after his murder.

Police said the victim had been killed by his son-in-law following an argument.

His body was found at the entrance of his house hours after the murder. The son-in-law had traced the old man to his village after his wife left his home following a domestic dispute.

The assailant escaped the scene after the murder as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said they were looking for the assailant for interrogation over the murder that happened on February 24, 2026.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise and have been linked to domestic disputes, land issues and love triangles. Police say the reported cases are under probe and some suspects have so far been arrested over the same.
