Two Indian Nationals Rescued in Kajiado as Three Suspects Arrested

Two Indian nationals have been rescued from an alleged kidnapping den after detectives tracked them to a house in Kajiado County, where three Pakistani nationals were arrested.

The victims, identified as Sandeep Sandeep and Ishwar Singh, had arrived in Kenya through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on August 10, 2026. They completed immigration formalities at around 2:50 p.m. before leaving the airport.

According to investigators, the two men were met outside the airport by two individuals who later accompanied them into a white Nissan Note. The vehicle subsequently left the airport with the four men.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operations Support Unit (OSU) followed a series of leads that eventually led them to a bungalow in Tumaini Estate, Nkoroi, Kajiado South.

A search of the premises uncovered the two missing visitors inside a bedroom. The victims were reportedly bound by their hands and legs and appeared to be in distress after their ordeal.

Police arrested three men found at the residence. They were identified as Shahzad Haroon, Tariq Muhammad Muneeb and Hassan Waqar.

Investigators believe the suspects were involved in a kidnapping-for-ransom operation. The probe established that messages had allegedly been sent to the victims’ relatives in India through WhatsApp, with the kidnappers demanding USD32,000 for their release.

Detectives also recovered the victims’ mobile phones during the operation. The devices were reportedly discovered concealed in a bush about two kilometres from the house where the men had been held.

The three suspects have been placed in police custody as detectives process the case ahead of their court appearance.

Investigators are continuing with inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the abduction and determine whether the suspects are connected to a wider criminal network involved in targeting foreign nationals.

The DCI said it remains committed to pursuing individuals suspected of kidnapping, extortion and other serious crimes while ensuring the safety of people living in or visiting Kenya.
