The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged two additional suspects in the KSh1.5 billion fraud case involving the Programme for Rural Outreach of Financial Innovation and Technology (PROFIT).
The suspects, Jackline Kagai Saisi, a director of Jarods Agency Limited, and Fredrick Nyadhe Obindah, a director of Laudrups Kenya Limited, appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for plea taking.
Saisi and her company face one count of unlawful acquisition of public property, while Obindah and his company face three charges, including unlawful acquisition of public property, acquisition of proceeds of crime and money laundering.
Both suspects denied the charges.
The prosecution, led by Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (ADPP) Susan Keli, did not oppose Obindah’s release on bail but urged the court to consider the seriousness and nature of the alleged offences when setting the terms.
The prosecution, however, opposed Saisi’s release on bail, arguing that she was a flight risk and could abscond from court proceedings.
The court was informed that efforts to trace Saisi at her known address in Embakasi were unsuccessful after directions were issued for her to be charged.
Prosecutors further told the court that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had issued a public notice requiring her to present herself for processing, but she failed to comply, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant.
The prosecution also raised concerns over her alleged change of residence from Embakasi to Buruburu Estate in Nairobi, arguing that her conduct raised questions about her willingness to submit to the court process.
In its ruling, the court granted Obindah a bond of KSh3 million with a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of KSh1.2 million.
He was also ordered to surrender his passport, attend court physically unless otherwise directed and refrain from interfering with witnesses.
Saisi was denied bail and remanded in custody pending the filing and consideration of a pre-bail report.
The case will be mentioned on November 11, 2026, for further directions.
