Police in Mombasa are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found floating in a pond near FAW-Miritini in Jomvu Sub-County.
The body, believed to be that of a man aged about 30, was discovered on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Police visited the scene and recovered the body from the pond.
Preliminary observations indicated that the man may have drowned the previous night, as the body had not yet started decomposing.
The deceased was not immediately identified. Police recovered a small mobile phone from the body and handed it over to the DCI Crime Scene Investigation team for analysis to help establish his identity.
The body was later moved to the Coast General Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
And police in Migori County are investigating the killing of a 60-year-old man who died shortly after he was found seriously injured near his home in Suna East Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Samwel Onyango Hongo, was found with injuries on the back of his neck and lower spine following the incident at Nyatira village in Onguo Sub-Location.
The deceased’s wife told police heard cries for help coming from a nearby road and rushed to the scene.
She found her husband struggling to get up and groaning in pain. According to her account to investigators, he uttered the words “Tinga ameniua,” which translates to “Tinga has killed me.”
A man identified as Tinga, was allegedly seen walking away from the area at the time. The allegation has not been independently established, and police did not indicate whether the man had been arrested.
The wife and other people helped carry the injured man back to his home, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards.
Police later visited the home and found the body lying in the living room.
Scene-of-crime personnel from Migori documented and photographed the scene before the body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.
Investigations into the killing are ongoing.
