President William Ruto and First Lady Rachael Ruto on Wednesday presided over the investiture of honour ceremony for Her Highness Princess Zahra Aga Khan at State House, Nairobi, where she was awarded one of Kenya’s highest state commendations.
The President conferred upon Princess Zahra Aga Khan the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (E.G.H.), the country’s second-highest state honour, in recognition of her outstanding humanitarian service and long-standing commitment to improving lives through the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
Speaking during the ceremony, President Ruto lauded the Princess for her tireless efforts in advancing development initiatives in Kenya and across the region, particularly in health, education and economic empowerment.

He noted that collaboration between the Government of Kenya and AKDN has yielded transformative projects that have nurtured talent, created employment opportunities and stimulated economic growth.
The Head of State emphasized that Kenya values its enduring partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network and looks forward to deepening cooperation in key national programmes, including the Affordable Housing Project and the Nairobi River Regeneration Initiative.
He said such partnerships are critical in expanding economic opportunities, especially for young people.
The ceremony at State House underscored Kenya’s appreciation for development partners who have consistently supported the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
