Willis Raburu launches production studio months after ditching plum county job


More and more journalists have in the recent past been venturing into private businesses and former Citizen TV news anchor Willis Raburu is not an exception.

Nairobi News has learnt Raburu has officially launched his own production studios months after quitting from his plum job at the Nairobi County Government.

News of the launch was first teased by the journalist himself through a number of social media posts inviting notable personalities to the event.

This writer has learnt the launch happened on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Baraza Media Lab, Nairobi.

The launch saw the attendance of the who is who in the entertainment industry such as Dr Ofweneke, Betty Kyallo, her boyfriend Charlie, Don Tawamo, MC Exodus just to mention but a few.

Raburu’s production studio dubbed Wabebe XP Studios will be dealing with film production, podcast production and a host of other audio-visual services.

News of the launch impressed Raburu’s celebrity friends and other Kenyans who took to different social media platforms to congratulate him.

Until the launch of Wabebe XP Studios, Raburu used to run his entertainment company, Wabebe Experience which has hosted some of Kenya’s biggest events.

The journalist ventured into private business after quiting his high-paying job at the Nairobi County Government.

In his statement following the resignation, he cited frustrations and protocols which would not allow him to dispense his duties flawlessly.

Raburu joined Nairobi County Government after calling it quits at Citizen TV where worked as a news anchor and a magazine show’s host.
