And four herders were arrested after they were found slaughtering a cow near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi.

Security guards on duty had on November 20, 2025 stumbled on the group as they slaughtered a cow next to the Greenfield area.

The group was ready to load the carcass to a waiting car when police and the guards arrived and caught them up.

They were taken to custody as the meat was taken for destruction. It was incinerated, police said adding the four were expected in court to face various charges.

The herders claimed the cow was weak and it was part of their livestock they had been taking care of before they decided to slaughter it.

Such an exercise is supposed to be carried out by experts with an inspection of a veterinary officer, police said.
