Woman arrested over murder of her four-year-old son in Sheywe, Kakamega


A woman was arrested over the murder of her four-year-old son in Sheywe village, Kakamega County.

The body of the boy was found lying on a sofa set on January 20. Police said the woman is believed to have strangled the boy and they are yet to establish the motive of the same.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Police said the woman was Wednesday expected in court to face murder charges.

Elsewhere in Borabu, Nyamira County, the body of Eric Bogonko, 41 was found in his house after he had been assaulted in an altercation with people known to him.

Police said the deceased decided to take painkillers and slept. He died overnight in his house. Police mover the body to the mortuary pending investigations.

Police said they were hunting for the said assailants for questioning over the murder.

Murder incidents have been on the rise in various places amid efforts to solve them. Most incidents are linked to land disputes and love triangles.

In Mugutha area, Juja, Kiambu County, the body of a man was found in a thicket after a suspected murder.

The man did not have identification documents when the body was discovered and moved to the mortuary pending other procedures. Police said they are investigating murder in the incident.

In Gatongora, Ruiru area, a suspect was stoned to death in a botched robbery at a private firm. Police said the deceased had tried to steal concrete poles when an alarm was raised alerting a mob.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Nkondi, Tharaka Nithi County, a man was burnt to death after being accused of stealing two goats. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an investigation.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.
