Police in Garissa Sub-County are investigating a murder case after a woman who had allegedly been assaulted by her brother succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in hospital.
Aisha Mohamed Jubat, 45, died on Thursday night while receiving treatment at Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Police said the victim had sustained serious head injuries suspected to have been inflicted using a blunt object during an assault that reportedly occurred on May 19 at around 7am in the Heller area.
The suspect, who is said to be the deceased’s brother, was arrested shortly after the incident and remains in police custody.
Authorities said the body was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
The Garissa Magistrate’s Court has already granted detectives seven days to continue holding the suspect as investigations continue.
And police in Rarieda Sub County launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a bush in Ramba village.
According to police the incident was reported at Ndori Police Station on Thursday evening at about 6:14pm.
Police found the badly decomposed body of an unknown African male adult hidden inside a bush.
The body had significantly decayed and was infested with larvae, indicating it had been at the location for some time.
Police also recovered a sisal rope at the scene as detectives began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Bondo County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination aimed at establishing the cause of death and the identity of the deceased.
No arrests had been made by Thursday evening.
And police in Matungulu Sub County are investigating a murder incident following the death of a 29-year-old man who succumbed to injuries allegedly sustained during a bar fight in Kantafu area.
The incident is said to have occurred on the night of May 16 and 17 at Matuu Bar in Kantafu village.
The deceased, identified as Hosea Kamau Kimwele, was reportedly drinking with his friend Paul Mutembei when they were confronted by a group led by a man identified only as Njoroge.
The group allegedly demanded drinks from them, leading to a confrontation that turned violent.
During the altercation, Kimwele sustained serious injuries to the head and chest and was rushed to Kangundo Sub-County Level 4 Hospital for treatment. He later died while receiving medical attention on May 18.
Police said the incident went unreported for several days as the deceased had no relative or guardian visiting him at the hospital.
The matter only came to light on Thursday after the deceased’s brother visited the hospital mortuary and identified the body.
