Woman dies in hospital after being stabbed in her house in domestic fight in Baricho, Kirinyaga County


A 40-year-old woman died in hospital after she was stabbed by a man believed to be her husband in a domestic fight in Kirinyaga’s Baricho area.

Police said Mary Wambua Mugweru had been stabbed in the chest on February 15 after a fight at her house and rushed to the hospital where he died two days later.

The said assailant escaped the scene after the incident and was yet to be arrested by Wednesday February 18, police said amid a hunt on him.

Police visited the scene and recovered blood stained sandals that had been worn by the deceased.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And a notorious robbery with violence suspect was arrested in connection with an attack and robbey incident on litigant and parliamentary hopefull Dr Magare Gikenyi in Nakuru Town.

Gikenyi was at the weekend on February 14, 2026 attacked in London area and robbed of his mobile phone and unknown amount of money.

The suspects escaped on a waiting motorcycle as Gikenyi made a report to the police.

On February 17, the suspect was trailed to Gioto area where he was arrested prompting other accomplices to start rioting in attempt to have him freed.

Police had to fire to the air to scare the gang of about 30 that had confronted them in efforts to free the wanted suspect identified as Alex Macharia alias Ndogo.

He was taken to custody pending investigations into the attack and possible arraignment. Gikenyi wants to be an MP for Nakuru Town West. He is one of the leading litigants on constitutional matters, which have shot him to the public limelight.

Elsewhere in Tebesi, Kegonga, Migori County, a four-year-old boy drowned in a river after suspected drowning.

The body had visible bruises in the knees and forehead when it was discovered on Tuesday in Tebesi River, police said.

The family said he was missing after failing to return from school on Monday.

A missing report had been made before the body was found and later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
