Police in Vihiga County launched investigations into the fatal stabbing of a 48-year-old woman outside her home in Mungoma Location.
The deceased, identified as Ebby Adorua, was attacked at around 11.45 p.m. on July 5 after she stepped outside her house, reportedly to relieve herself.
According to police, an unidentified assailant stabbed her several times with a sharp object before fleeing the scene. The victim managed to raise an alarm, prompting her husband and children to rush to her aid.
The motive for the attack has not yet been established, and no suspect has been arrested.
The body was moved to Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary in Mbale, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
Elsewhere, police in Kilifi County launched investigations into the killing of a 31-year-old boda boda rider who was allegedly attacked by suspected robbers after picking up passengers from a funeral vigil.
The victim, identified as Tomas Abdala, is said to have attended a disco matanga at Kolewa Village before ferrying two passengers to Mwarakaya Location in Chonyi Sub-County during the early hours of July 4.
According to police, the two passengers allegedly turned on the rider along the way and attacked him using crude weapons before leaving him unconscious in a maize plantation in Kisingo Sublocation.
He was later found and rushed to Jibana Health Centre before being referred to Kilifi County Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on the morning of July 5.
Detectives from DCI Chonyi visited and documented the scene but did not recover the murder weapon. They also viewed the body at Kilifi County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it was identified by family members.
Police said the body had multiple injuries to the head and right leg. Investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the attackers. A team of detectives revisited the scene on Monday as part of the ongoing probe.
