Police in Suba South, Homa Bay County, have launched investigations after a woman was found dead outside a guest house in Kaksingiri West Location.
The woman, estimated to be about 35 years old, was found lying on her back on a veranda near the bathroom area of Florida Guest House in Rangwe East Sub-location.
The incident was reported to police at around 11am on Friday after the manager of the guest house discovered the woman’s body during a routine inspection at about 9am.
Police said the woman was naked but had been covered with a Maasai sheet. A pair of slippers and a basin were found near the body.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman had arrived at the guest house with a man at around 11pm on Thursday and took a room.
The man, who is now being sought by police, was not at the premises when the body was discovered.
Police said no visible physical injuries were observed on the woman’s body.
The body was removed and taken to the Suba Sub-County mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and trace the man who was last seen with her.
And police in Kimilili, Bungoma County, have launched investigations into the murder of a 54-year-old man whose body was found beside the Chebukwabi-Miurui road.
The deceased was identified as Kennedy Muganda, whose body was discovered at about 3am on Friday.
Police responded to the scene and found Muganda lying on his back beside the road.
A preliminary examination of the body revealed visible bruises around the neck and blood oozing from the ears.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene before the body was removed and taken to Sante Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
The motive for the killing remains unknown.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding Muganda’s death and identify those responsible.
