The body of a four-year-old boy who was missing was found in a sack and dumped in a pit latrine in Rongai area, Nakuru County.
Police revealed the boy’s mother is responsible for the macabre murder.
She is missing from her home in Olrongai Kichwa area after the Thursday January 23 night incident.
According to police, the woman identified as Anne Wangui went missing with the four-year-old boy from the home before the body was discovered in the family pit latrine.
The woman had earlier on forced her elder son to swallow several tablets before he slept.
It was then that she left with the younger son. She is said to have strangled him within the compound.
A neighbor told police the woman asked for a sack from him to help her carry a luggage she had.
Little did he know it was the body of the minor.
A search was conducted in the compound before it ended up at the pit latrine that was in use.
According to police, the sack was retrieved and the body of the boy was discovered therein.
Police said the body had visible strangulation marks on the neck.
The motive of the murder is yet to be known.
The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy. Police said a hunt on the woman is ongoing.
Elsewhere in Kikopey, Gilgil, the body of one Francis Wanyoike was found in a bush after a suspected murder.
The body had physical injuries in the face and chest and the scene seems the primary one, police said.
The body was picked up to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the murder and those behind the same.
In Kayole area, Nairobi, 42-year-old Simon Mbuthia Mwangi succumbed to his injuries after he had been attacked by unknown people while walking home.
Mwangi did not spend the night at home on January 18 which raised concern with his wife who said she later found a group gathered on the roadside.
She later realized it was her husband who had an injury on the head after he had been attacked by unknown people during a robbery.
He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, police said. The hunt for the assailants is ongoing, police said.
