Police in Kwale County are investigating the death of a 49-year-old worker who was electrocuted while reconnecting electricity at Shimba Hills Trading Centre.
The incident was reported at about 8.30pm on July 11 by a supervisor at AMKAY Company Limited.
The deceased, identified as Sammy Maluki Kilyungi, was part of a team undertaking power line maintenance after electricity had earlier been disconnected to allow the pruning of tree branches near power poles within the shopping centre.
Police said Kilyungi was electrocuted while reconnecting electricity to one of the poles after the pruning exercise. His colleagues rushed him to Shimba Hills Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers visited both the health facility and the scene, where they documented the incident as part of the investigation.
The body was later transferred to Msambweni Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal workplace accident.
And police in Nandi County are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was recovered from River Yala in Nandi Central Sub-County.
The incident was reported at about 5.30pm on July 11 after the body was spotted floating in the river at Taunet B Village, Kapkangani Location.
Police officers rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of members of the public, retrieved the body of an unidentified man believed to be about 60 years old.
The deceased had no visible external injuries.
Crime scene personnel documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to Nandi Hills Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
