Zari Hassan’s Lover Shakib To Face-Off Arrow Bwoy In Upcoming Much-Anticipated Boxing Bout

The East African entertainment scene is once again gearing up for fireworks after it emerged that Ugandan businessman and socialite Shakib Cham Lutaaya will step into the ring against Kenyan singer Arrow Bwoy in the second edition of the much-talked-about Vurugu Boxing event.

The highly anticipated bout is scheduled to take place on June 20 at the Sarit Expo Centre, with organisers promising an even bigger and more explosive showdown after the success of the inaugural edition.

The upcoming clash has already generated massive buzz online, especially after fans repeatedly pushed comedian and media personality Oga Obinna to stage a second Vurugu Boxing event following the success of the first one.

Kenyans on social media had flooded Obinna’s comment sections demanding another celebrity boxing spectacle after the first edition featuring Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer became one of the most talked-about entertainment events in the country.

The maiden Vurugu Boxing event, held at Kasarani Indoor Arena earlier this year, attracted huge crowds and widespread online attention.

The fight between Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer turned into a viral sensation, with fans passionately supporting their preferred fighter both online and inside the packed arena.

The buildup alone dominated social media for weeks, with memes, training videos, face-offs and heated exchanges keeping fans entertained.

Majembe eventually defeated Mbavu Destroyer in a controversial fourth-round stoppage after landing a decisive blow that sparked endless debate online.

The drama did not end there, as Mbavu later claimed he had been hit below the belt and even moved to the Sports Disputes Tribunal seeking to overturn the result and force a rematch.

Despite the controversy, the event was widely viewed as a major success and a turning point for celebrity boxing in Kenya.

Sponsors reportedly came on board in large numbers, while fans praised Obinna for blending entertainment, social media culture and sports into one explosive package.

Now, attention has shifted to the second edition, which promises an international flavour thanks to Shakib’s involvement.

Shakib, who is widely known as the husband of Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan, has previously expressed interest in facing Kenyan celebrities in the ring.

In past interviews, he mentioned names such as Arrow Bwoy, Willy Paul and Khaligraph Jones as potential opponents.

Arrow Bwoy was among the first Kenyan celebrities to publicly accept the challenge, confidently declaring that he was ready for the fight.

The singer even jokingly warned Shakib against bringing Zari to the event, saying she might faint after witnessing the beating he plans to deliver.

The bout is expected to draw huge crowds from both Kenya and Uganda, especially considering the growing popularity of influencer and celebrity boxing across East Africa.

Globally, celebrity boxing has become a booming entertainment business, inspired by international stars such as Jake Paul and Cassper Nyovest, who successfully transformed celebrity fights into major commercial events.

With online rivalry already heating up and fans eagerly waiting for the official face-off, many are now predicting that the Shakib versus Arrow Bwoy fight could surpass the hype generated by the Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer showdown.

As the countdown to June 20 begins, all eyes will be on the Sarit Expo Centre to see whether Arrow Bwoy can defend Kenyan pride or if Shakib will silence the home crowd in Nairobi.
