A suspected phone snatcher believed to be behind a series of robberies in Korogocho, Nairobi, has been arrested following a swift police response to a reported armed robbery in the area.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Korogocho Police Station moved quickly after a victim reported the incident at the station, leading to the successful tracking and arrest of the suspect.
Police said the suspect was linked to multiple phone-snatching incidents within the neighbourhood, prompting intensified efforts to curb the rising cases of street robberies.
During the arrest, officers recovered a Samsung smartphone believed to have been stolen from the victim, as well as a knife allegedly used during the robbery.
The suspect was escorted to Korogocho Police Station, where he is being held in custody pending processing and subsequent arraignment in court on relevant charges.
The National Police Service commended the officers for their swift action, reaffirming its commitment to enhancing security and tackling criminal activities across the country.
Authorities further assured residents of continued operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving safety within informal settlements and urban centres.
