EACC Arrests Rongo MP Paul Abuor Over Embezzlement Of Sh122 Million CDF Funds

Detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Commission Commission (EACC) arrested Rongo Member of Parliament Paul Odalo Mark over alleged embezzlement of National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) funds amounting to Sh122 million.

He was grilled and released pending further action by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The MP is said to have awarded tenders to companies associated with him worth the aforementioned amount between the 2017 and 2015 period.

EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud confirmed the arrest on Thursday saying that MP Odalo is being probed for conflict of interest and theft of public funds.

The commission said the lawmaker, in liaison with Christopher Nelson Abuor and his personal assistant, has registered two proxy companies and contracted them to construct classrooms and drill boreholes within his constituency.

The first company Aztec Infrastructure Kenya Limited where he is the sole director has so far received Sh122 million while the other company Jebset Holdings Limited where he is not the director has received sh.19.6 million.

“The MP has through his Personal Assistant registered another company by the name Jebset Holdings Limited.

Through this company, the Personal Assistant has been paid sh.19.6 million by Rongo Constituency NG-CDF.

The Personal Assistant is the sole Director and signatory to the Company Bank Account,” EACC stated.

The MP recorded a statement at EACC offices in Nairobi and was released on bond.

The MP however denied being arrested, claiming that he drove himself to the EACC offices.

He also dismissed the allegations levelled against him.

The detectives also raided his homes.

Mohamud urged State Officers to desist from abusing their positions to abet corruption, noting that the case is part of similar embezzlement under the CDF, National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), Women Enterprise Fund and other devolved funds.
