The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that a heated argument escalated into violence, resulting in one cousin fatally stabbing the other.
The two girls, both from Fanaka Estate in Narok Central, were engaged in a dispute when the 17-year-old suspect stabbed her 16-year-old cousin.
The victim sustained serious injuries and later died from excessive bleeding, as confirmed by authorities.
The incident was reported to Narok Police Station on December 22, 2024.
In their statement, the DCI explained, “In a family dispute between these two young cousins, the situation turned tragic when one was fatally injured.”

The 17-year-old implicated in the stabbing has been taken into custody and is expected to face charges on Monday, December 23.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the events that led to the confrontation.
In light of the increasing tensions and incidents of violence, the DCI has issued a public alert as the festive season approaches.
A recent advisory highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant, especially in social settings.
The DCI also raised concerns about the rising incidents of individuals being drugged in bars and clubs during the holiday season.
They shared a concerning CCTV footage of a woman who stole valuables from a guest at a hotel in Diani.
The footage revealed the suspect leaving the hotel room shortly after the victim, whom she had met at a bar, had entered.
The woman reportedly made off with two mobile phones, a watch, and the victim’s ATM cards, subsequently draining his bank accounts before disabling his phones.
Detectives are actively working to track down the suspect and recover the stolen items.
