Gen Z chef impresses Kenyans with ugali pizza; "Hii sasa ndio inabamba"

Kenyans are known world over for their creativity and smart innovations.

Many have written their names in history books with their different creative innovation.

This was recently confirmed by a fast-rising Kenyan chef who dazzled netizens with her creative and unique local recipe.

The young female chef who runs an Instagram page dubbed Wairimu Eats became the darling of many locals after showcasing her skills in making ugali pizza.

Creative Gen Z Chef Introduces Ugali Pizza Recipe

Taking to her Instagram page on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Wairimu shared a video of herself preparing her ugali pizza, with a step by step guide.

She first cooked her ugali, kales and some beef and then merged the combination to come up with a mouth-watering ugali pizza.

“Ugali pizza. Boil your beef if need be. Fry onions, sauce (bbq sauce, soy sauce and oyster sauce) and tomatoes. Season with beef cubes, salt and paprika. Cook your greens as you like. Ugali use ugali floor from MasterChef flour. Make sure it is very soft I also added butter flavour,” she captioned her tutorial video.

Well, being a new recipe that most Kenyans are not familiar with, a section of netizens faulted her, holding that she is ruining their tradition.

Many insisted that Ugali should just be cooked separately and to be accompanied by vegetables or meats.

However, many people who thronged the comments section of Wairimu’s post heaped praises on her with a multitude lauding her for her creativity.

Her supporters, including some local celebrities congratulated her for coming up with a recipe that will make people who hate ugali to finally enjoy it.

Many comments on her post were from people who insisted that her ugali pizza is one of the best recipe to ever come out of Kenya.

Tens of people insisted that they would not mind trying the recipe when they get the time.
