Gospel musician Betty Bayo has finally been laid to rest after a week marked by drama, controversy, and questions surrounding her death, funeral arrangements, and burial.
Nairobi News has learnt that Betty was buried on the afternoon of Thursday, November 20, at her property in Mugumo Estate along Kiambu Road.
Her body was transferred from the Kenyatta University Mortuary on Thursday morning before the funeral procession headed to Ndumberi Stadium in Kiambu County, where mourners gathered to pay their last respects to the beloved singer.

The burial ceremony drew a massive crowd, including government officials, local celebrities, and her fans.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, former presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah, and former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria were among the politicians who attended Betty’s burial.
The entertainment industry was also well represented, with notable personalities joining mourners to give the gospel star a befitting send-off.

Judging by the turnout, it is evident that Betty was deeply loved by Kenyans from all walks of life.
Initially, uncertainty surrounded the final resting place of the late gospel musician.
However, the standoff ended after her family officially announced the date and venue of her burial.
For days, the public speculated about where the celebrated singer would be laid to rest following her sudden death on November 10, 2025, while receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

The matter was finally settled when the family designated her property at Mugumo Estate, Kiambu County, as her final resting place.
Betty’s burial came hot on the heels of a social media storm involving her ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari.
Kanyari sparked widespread conversation after unexpectedly sharing old photos of himself and Betty.

The images, taken during a past trip abroad, showed the two enjoying time together, including a moment captured inside an elevator and another during their visit to the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo in Thailand.
He also posted screenshots of old chats between him and the late Betty Bayo, leaving Kenyans questioning the motive behind his posts.
