How to turn on analytics on TikTok

Understanding how your TikTok content performs is key to growing your audience, improving engagement, and creating videos that viewers love. TikTok Analytics provides valuable data, including video views, follower insights, audience demographics, and engagement trends.

However, TikTok only makes these analytics available when you switch to a Business Account or Creator Account. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to turn on analytics on TikTok.

  1. Open Your TikTok App and Go to Your Profile

Start by launching the TikTok app on your phone.
Tap the Profile icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
This will take you to your main profile page.

  1. Access the Settings and Privacy Menu

Once you’re on your profile:
Tap the three horizontal lines (menu icon) in the top right corner.
Select Settings and privacy from the menu that appears.

  1. Switch to a Business or Creator Account

TikTok Analytics is only available when you switch from a personal account to a Business or Creator account.
To do this:

  • Tap Account
  • Select Switch to Business Account or Switch to Creator Account
  • Follow the on-screen steps to complete the switch
  • Choose your category (for example: personal blog, art, entertainment, beauty, education, etc.)

Once the switch is done, your profile will now support analytics.

  1. Go Back to Your Profile and Open Analytics

After switching your account type, analytics becomes available immediately.

To access it:

  • Go back to your Profile
  • Tap the three-line menu again
  • Select Creator tools (for Creator accounts) or Business suite (for Business accounts)
  • Tap Analytics

You will now see full analytics data, including:

Overview

Shows general performance including video views, profile views, and follower growth.

Content

Shows performance of your individual videos—views, reach, watch time, and traffic sources.

Followers

Provides insights into your audience: gender, location, active times, and follower changes.

LIVE

Shows performance of your live broadcasts (if applicable).

  1. Allow Time for Data to Build Up

Analytics will not show much data immediately—TikTok needs time to gather information from your recent activity.
Expect to see detailed analytics after a few days of posting new videos.

  1. Use TikTok Analytics to Improve Your Content

Once analytics is active, use it to:

  • Identify your best-performing videos
  • Learn when your followers are most active
  • Understand who your audience is
  • Track video traffic sources, such as FYP, followers, or profile visits
  • Improve content strategy based on performance trends

This data can help you grow your TikTok presence faster and create content your audience responds to.
