Kenya is positioning itself for a major role in international police cooperation following the participation of International Police Association (IPA) Kenya Section President Jared Ojuok, in the 69th IPA World Congress in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Ojuok is attending the global gathering, which marks the first time the prestigious IPA World Congress is being hosted in Asia.
On the sidelines of the congress, the Kenyan delegation is holding strategic discussions with members of the International Executive Board (IEB) to strengthen international collaboration and advance professional development within policing.
The talks are focusing on the coordination of upcoming international seminars aimed at enhancing police training, knowledge-sharing and professional development among officers from different countries.
A key item on the agenda is preparations for the 72nd IPA World Congress, scheduled to be hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2029.
The Nairobi congress is expected to provide Kenya with an opportunity to showcase its capacity to host major international gatherings while strengthening its engagement with police associations and law enforcement professionals from across the world.
The preparations also signal the IPA Kenya Section’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and promoting cooperation among police officers beyond national borders.
Ojuok’s participation in the Colombo congress comes as Kenya prepares to welcome delegates from across the globe for the 2029 event, which will place Nairobi at the centre of the association’s international activities.
He said they are ready to host the event.
“We have been preparing for this event and are ready for it,” he said.
The International Police Association is a global organisation that brings together serving and retired police officers to promote friendship, professional exchange and cooperation across national boundaries.
Kenya’s hosting of the 72nd World Congress in 2029 is expected to offer a platform for strengthening these ties and showcasing the country’s contribution to international policing cooperation.
