A Kenya Airways (KQ) flight en route to Dar es Salaam was forced to return to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday due to a medical emergency, the airline confirmed.
Flight KQ484, which departed JKIA at 12:48 p.m., made an unscheduled return and landed back at the airport around 1:40 p.m., where it was met by medical personnel.

The airline stated that all appropriate health and safety protocols were followed, though it did not disclose the specific nature of the emergency.
Initial reports had speculated about a possible toxic chemical leak in the cargo hold from a previous flight, but KQ did not confirm this.

According to the airline, after the situation was addressed, the aircraft was cleared and resumed its journey to Dar es Salaam, taking off again at 3:54 p.m.
