Kenya Prison Service Announces Nationwide Recruitment Of Prison Constables Across All 47 Counties


The Kenya Prison Service (KPS), under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, has announced the upcoming recruitment of prison constables across all 47 counties.

In an official notice on April 7, KPS confirmed that the recruitment exercise for both male and female Prison Constables will take place on April 30, 2025.

KPS emphasized that the recruitment process will be entirely free of charge, warning that bribery or any form of corruption will not be tolerated.

“Any individual attempting to participate in the recruitment with forged or fake academic certificates, identity cards, or engaging in corrupt activities will be disqualified and prosecuted,” the notice stated.

To be eligible for the recruitment, candidates must meet the following requirements and possess the academic qualifications outlined:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Possess a valid National ID card.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Hold a minimum of a D+ grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 28 years.
  • Meet the minimum height requirement of 5 feet 4 inches for men and 5 feet 2 inches for women.
  • Be physically and mentally fit.
  • Possess good bearing and clear vision.
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during the initial training period.

Upon recruitment, successful candidates will undergo a paramilitary training that lasts for a minimum of nine months.

Candidates are required to bring the original copies of their National ID, birth certificate, KRA PIN, academic certificates, and other relevant testimonials on the recruitment day.

KPS invited interested candidates to attend the recruitment exercise at the specified centers.

In Nairobi, the recruitment will take place at Nyayo Stadium, Nyandarua Stadium, Gigiri DCC Office, Pumwani Playground, Mathare Depot Playground, Kasarani Stadium, Ruaraka DCC Office, and City Stadium. Other centers in the capital include Huruma Ground, Shepherds Ground, Jakaranda Grounds, Tena Grounds, Vision Grounds, Kamukunji Sports Grounds, Njiru DCC Office, NYS Headquarters, and PSTC-Ruiru.

In Mombasa, the recruitment centers are Likoni Approved Grounds, Mvita Grounds, A.S.K Show Grounds, Kisauni DCC Office, Changamwe Oil Refineries, and NYS Mamlai Grounds.

For Kisumu, recruitment will be held at the DCC Offices in Ojola and Kombewa, Mamboleo Show Ground, Kenyatta Grounds, Nyando DCC Office, Nyakach DCC Office, Chemelili Sugar Company Stadium, and Kadibo DCC Office.

In Nakuru, recruitment centers include the DCC Offices in Naivasha Kihoto, Gilgil Stadium, Olonguruoni Stadium, Molo Municipal Stadium, Njoro DCC Office, Subukia Playground, Kiugoini DCC Office, Afraha Stadium Nakuru, Kaptembwa Grounds, and Rongia DCC Office (Kampi Ya Moto).

KPS has issued a reminder to the public that recruitment will only occur at the listed centers on the specified date.
