Kenyan artist Mandela honours Papa Shirandula with impressive sculpture 


Late legendary Kenyan thespian Papa Shirandula was without a doubt one of the most iconic figures in the country.

The actor not only shaped the lives of many creatives but also brought joy in the lives of countless Kenyans.

During his lifetime, Papa Shirandula was a force to reckon with but a helpful soul to most if not all young thespians.

His demise in 2020 shook the entire country with countless people taking to different social media platforms to mourn him.

The actor was and still is celebrated as one of the legendary talents that Kenya has ever produced.

Well, Papa may have gone to be with his maker but his memories will live forever, Nairobi News has learnt.

A super talented Kenyan artist, Mandela Ondula recently took it upon himself to honour the late Papa Shirandula with an impressive sculpture.

The creative took to social media and posted several photos of himself standing next to Shirandula’s sculpture, followed by a short but touching caption.

“A timeless tribute to a soul who felt like home,” Mandela wrote.

Mandela clearly understood the assignment as he got everything right with the sculpture.

From the facial features, watchman uniform and even the posture, Mandela outdid himself and his efforts did not go unnoticed.

Countless netizens trickled the comments section of Mandela’s post to congratulate him for producing such a masterpiece.

Others, could not help but heap praises on him for at least honouring an iconic national figure who brought joy in the homes of many Kenyans.

Charles Bukeko, best known as Papa Shirandula, died on July 18, 2020, at Karen Hospital from a brief illness, later identified as COVID-19.

His family alleged hospital negligence, stating staff were slow to respond to his breathing difficulties.

The hospital denied these claims, citing adherence to health protocols, while Bukeko was laid to rest under strict COVID-19 guidelines in his hometown of Busia.
