Kenyans mourn again as vandals destroy Fayah Mama Jahmby Koikai’s grave


Lovers of reggae music have been thrown into yet another stretch of mourning after video showing late Fayah Mama Jahmby’s grave vandalised.

Nairobi News has learnt unknown people recently invaded late Jahmby’s grave at the Lang’ata Cemetery and defaced it.

According to videos that have fast gone viral on social media, metal railings and the gate surrounding late Fayah Mama’s grave were stolen.

One of the videos circulating online showed the damaged grave, with a voice in the background lamenting about the vandalism.

“Wamengoa machuma hapa. Zote zimetolewa chuma. Hadi hii ya Jahmby huwezi jua. Watu hawana adabu,” the voice narrated.

News of the vandalism irked many Kenyans, specifically Jahmby’s fans who took to different social media platforms to condemn the theft and mourn her once again while at it.

Quite a number called out the vandals as they shunned them for disrespecting a legend.

Many called on the police to launch investigations and nab the people responsible for the destruction.

Others even tagged Nairobi County’s Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria and called for his intervention in the issue.

Until her untimely demise, Jahmby was one of the most popular reggae entertainers with a swollen following thanks to her skills on the microphone.

The deceased was also a revered Reggae show radio presenter and emcee who worked for some of Kenya’s top radio stations and performed at major stages.

The reggae ambassador died on June 4, 2024, after a long battle with thoracic endometriosis, a rare and severe medical condition that causes her incessant suffering.
