Police in Samburu Sub-County, Kwale County, launched investigations into the death of a man whose body was found in a bush near his home.
Mnyika Chiwaya Chuphi, an adult male, was found dead by his wife in a bush near their home in Gurujo Village, Duphuro Sub-Location, on Thursday night.
According to police, the matter was reported Friday.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body lying in a prone position with severe injuries to the head, which had been completely destroyed.
A panga, axe and mobile phone were recovered at the scene as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the death.
The scene was documented and the body moved to Kinango Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances and motive behind the killing.
And police in Nandi Central Sub-County have arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of killing his 37-year-old nephew following a violent incident in Kamno B village.
The victim, identified as Hillary Kipchirchir Tarus, was found unconscious and bleeding heavily inside a house in the village on Friday night.
According to police, officers led by the Officer Commanding Station rushed to the area at about 11.40pm after receiving reports of people screaming in the neighbourhood.
They found the victim seated on a sofa and leaning towards the ground, with a pool of blood on the floor.
Police secured the scene and alerted the DCI and Scenes of Crime officers from Kapsabet.
The forensic team established that Tarus had sustained two deep cuts at the back of his head, another deep cut on his lips and a deep cut on his forehead.
Members of the public told police that Tarus had allegedly been attacked by a man aged 39, who is said to be his uncle.
The scene was processed and the body moved to Samaritan Farewell Home in Kapsabet for preservation pending an autopsy.
The suspect was later arrested at Chepsonoi and detained at Kaimosi Police Station, where he is being held pending processing and interrogation.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kapsabet is handling the case as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
