Police are investigating an incident where a man went wild and killed a cow and slashed 80 banana stems in a village in Muthithi, Kigumo, Muranga County.
The man who is a well-known electrician in the village armed himself with a knife and panga before embarking on his mission.
According to police, he first stabbed and killed a cow before walking to a banana plantation and slashed 81 stems.
He later fled the scene as a mob gathered there in the January 21 incident.
The motive of the incident is yet to be known, police said.
The incident was reported to a local police station prompting and investigation and search for the suspect.
Police said they are investigating the saga.
They want to interrogate the accused person to understand what prompted him to cause the damage and kill the cow.
This is after villagers threatened to hunt him down and lynch him.
Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid calls on the public to desist from such actions and instead hand over suspects to authorities for processing and possible prosecution.
Police say some of the victims are innocent and framed.
