Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Robbery With Violence In Baringo

A court in Baringo has sentenced Peter Natesero Lengusu to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of robbery with violence.

The offense occurred on August 10, 2024, in Kampi Turkana village, Marigat Location, Baringo South Sub-County.

Lengusu, together with accomplices who remain at large, confronted the victim, forcibly took his mobile phone, and assaulted him.

Lengusu had evaded arrest for a period until local community members apprehended him and alerted the police, leading to his arrest.

In delivering the verdict, Kabarnet Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Ateya took into account the seriousness of the crime and the accused’s evident lack of remorse.

The court also cited Lengusu’s threats to kill the victim and others involved in his arrest, including ominous remarks warning his targets to “start digging their graves before he arrives from prison.”

Due to the continued threat to public safety demonstrated by these threats, the magistrate imposed the maximum penalty under the law: life imprisonment.
