A mason tragically lost his life after falling from the third floor of a building under construction in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.
The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, November 2, while Kennedy Oduor and his fellow masons were working on the third floor of the structure located in the Seasons area.
According to witnesses, he slipped and fell, landing on his head.
He was subsequently pronounced dead at a nearby hospital to which he was swiftly transported following the accident.
Authorities arrived at the scene and ordered its closure as investigations commenced.
Officials from the National Construction Authority and Nairobi City County were notified of the incident and have joined the inquiry.
Such incidents have been increasing, prompting renewed calls for enhanced safety measures at workplaces, particularly on construction sites.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary, pending an autopsy and further investigations.
In a related report from the same vicinity, a 75-year-old woman named Mary Mukami was discovered deceased in her home in the Zimmerman area.
Her body, which exhibited no visible injuries, has been taken to Kenyatta University Memorial Funeral Home for an autopsy.
Additionally, a man drowned in the Nairobi River in the Gikomba area of Nairobi.
Members of the public reported the drowning of an unidentified adult male in the river, which led to a police response at the location.
Personnel from the Nairobi County Fire Department also participated in the recovery efforts following the discovery made on Sunday evening.
Authorities indicated that they are examining whether the individual was murdered elsewhere and subsequently disposed of in the river, or if he indeed drowned.
In a separate incident in the Ridgeways area, a 75-year-old retired official from the Kenya Revenue Authority, identified as Dominic Gatukui Muigai, was found deceased in his residence.
He had previously expressed feelings of illness, according to his family.
The body, which exhibited no signs of trauma, has been transported to Kenyatta University Mortuary for an autopsy, as reported by the police.
