The Ministry of Education is set to release the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results on Friday, January 9.
According to officials from the ministry, Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba will officially announce the results at 9:30 a.m. in Eldoret.
The 2025 KCSE examinations concluded on November 21 after approximately five weeks of continuous testing, having commenced on October 21.
A total of 996,000 candidates sat for the national examination, which plays a critical role in determining students’ progression to tertiary institutions and other post-secondary pathways.
Speaking earlier during the Omogusii Cultural Festival at Kenyoro School Groups in North Mugirango, CS Ogamba confirmed that the results would be released within the first two weeks of January, in line with long-standing tradition.
“The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks.
Traditionally, the KCSE examinations are normally announced in January, and we are keeping to that tradition,” Ogamba said.
Ahead of the official release, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) activated an online results portal two days ago.
However, the portal clearly indicated that results would only be accessible once the Ministry of Education formally announces them.
Education officials explained that the early activation of the portal is a routine measure aimed at ensuring the system is fully operational and capable of handling heavy traffic when candidates begin checking their results.
Once the results are released, candidates will be required to enter their index numbers and examination year on the portal to access their provisional results.
Meanwhile, CS Ogamba has cautioned the public against misinformation circulating online.
In a social media statement issued on Saturday, January 3, he dismissed claims that the KCSE results had already been released.
“Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves,” Ogamba said, while flagging a viral post as false.
