A woman fled her residence following the death of her son, which occurred after he was subjected to corporal punishment in their home located in Manunga, Kipipiri, Nyandarua County.
The tragic event unfolded after the mother accused her son of damaging the family television, valued at Ksh 14,000.
In response, she opted to administer punishment through caning, which ultimately proved fatal hours later, according to police reports.
On the night of October 28, the boy expressed his distress and discomfort as he went to bed.
Tragically, he was discovered deceased in his room the next day, with authorities suspecting that the injuries from the caning led to his demise.
At the time of the incident, the boy’s father was not present at home.
Upon learning that his son was crying due to the punishment, he sought clarification from the mother regarding the situation.

After being informed about the circumstances, he went to sleep, only to receive the heartbreaking news of his son’s death on October 29.
Police were summoned to the residence, where they found the boy’s body on the bed and subsequently transported it to the mortuary at JM Kariuki Level Five Hospital in Olkalou for a postmortem examination.
Authorities noted that corporal punishment is prohibited, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway, with efforts to locate the woman ongoing.
A 23-year-old man tragically drowned while attempting to cross a body of water in the Bondeni area of Nakuru County.
He was carried away and became ensnared in a sewage system.
Authorities reported that Stephen Ndugu lost his life in the Kingdom Seekers area as a result of the intense rainfall.
A search operation was carried out by the police, the Nakuru rescue team, and the Red Cross, leading to the recovery of the deceased’s body from the sewage, which exhibited several facial bruises.
The body has been transported to the Provincial General mortuary, where it will await a post-mortem examination.
