Several individuals were reportedly injured in an accident involving a public service vehiclePSV) and a private car on Thika Super Highway.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, November 8, causing the PSV to overturn and leaving a blue personal car severely damaged on the passenger side.
Photos and videos acquired by media showed that the accident occurred near the GSU headquarters, resulting in significant traffic congestion as the PSV remained overturned in the middle of the road.
Onlookers rushed to assist, attempting to evacuate passengers through the windows of the toppled vehicle.
The private car, identified as a blue Honda Fit, was pushed to the far right side of the highway, suggesting both vehicles were traveling in the same direction.
Footage captured a woman trying to stand, indicating she sustained injuries from the crash.
While there were no fatalities, several passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Officers from the nearby GSU headquarters quickly arrived at the scene, working to manage the crowd and the heavy traffic buildup on the busy highway.
This accident eerily resembled another that happened in September when a passenger-laden bus overturned at the Roysambu roundabout.
Eyewitnesses recounted how the driver of that PSV had swerved to avoid a pedestrian, resulting in the bus tipping over.
Situated near a residential area, the September accident also saw authorities struggling to control the gathering crowd eager to witness the incident.
