The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended another suspect in connection with cab driver Victoria Mumbua Muloki’s murder.
Muloki, who had gone missing for more than three weeks, was discovered dead on October 3, 2024, at the City Mortuary.
Her disappearance spurred an extensive investigation, which resulted in the arrest of Edwin Ng’etich, her final passenger who had sought a transport from Mombasa to Samburu.
Ng’etich was discovered in possession of Muloki’s taxi, which further implicated him in the crime.
In a scary confession, Ng’etich claimed that he sought the trip on September 27 and, midway through, attacked and battered Muloki multiple times before tying her to the back seat of the car.
On Friday, February 21, the DCI confirmed the arrest of another suspected Ng’etich accomplice.
“The suspect was apprehended as part of ongoing investigations into the murder of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, who was a taxi driver in Mombasa,” the statement added.
The suspect is also linked to the death of another male cab driver from Migori, who was discovered dead on July 31, 2024, under mysterious circumstances.
Other suspects are being sought and apprehended in connection with these crimes.
Muloki’s autopsy, undertaken by official pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, found that she had suffered serious trauma before passing away.
The postmortem revealed that she was repeatedly struck with a blunt weapon before being strangled, emphasizing the brutality of the crime.
In a separate inquiry, a 39-year-old lady was detained in connection with a man’s murder in Nairobi on May 11, 2022.
Initially reported as a case of mob justice at Kasarani Police Station, further investigations were begun in November 2023 in response to a complaint, resulting in the woman’s imprisonment.
