A group of nurses and health workers staged a protest outside Nairobi City Hall on February 10, 2026, continuing a wave of industrial action that began in mid-January over unresolved employment issues.
The demonstrations, organised under the Nairobi County Health Unions Caucus with support from the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), come amid rising tensions between county health workers and the Nairobi City County government.
The workers are protesting delayed salaries, unfulfilled return-to-work agreements, stalled promotions, and the incomplete implementation of the 2024/2025 Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) pay structures.
They are also demanding the completion of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and confirmation of staff letters.

The industrial action has disrupted services at several county health facilities, with nurses vowing not to resume duty until their demands are met.
KNUN has also issued a seven-day nationwide strike notice as of January 17, 2026, warning that unresolved issues in Nairobi could trigger wider industrial action across the country.
Reports indicate that concerns over employment, the status of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff, and other labor issues continue to dominate discussions between the county government and health workers.
Authorities have urged both parties to engage in dialogue to prevent further disruption of healthcare services in Nairobi.
