Police in Nigeria have charged the driver of British boxer Anthony Joshua with causing death by dangerous driving, barely a fortnight after a grisly road accident that claimed the lives of two people.
Nairobi News has learned that the driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, was arraigned at the Sagamu Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 2, after his arrest over an accident that occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
According to the BBC, prosecutors filed four charges against Kayode, including causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a valid driver’s licence.

The accused was granted bail of £2,578 but was remanded in custody pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
This publication has learned that the case will be mentioned again on January 20.
As earlier reported by Nairobi News, the accident involved a Lexus SUV carrying Anthony Joshua and his team.
Police reports indicated that the vehicle, which was being driven at high speed, rammed into a stationary truck on the busy highway, resulting in the deaths of two people.
Joshua’s strength coach, Sina Ghani, and personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, died at the scene.
The boxer, who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained injuries and was rushed to hospital, where he was later discharged after doctors confirmed that he was in stable condition.
