President William Ruto arrived back in Nairobi on Wednesday, January 8, following a diplomatic tour that took him to Ghana and Angola.
During his trip, Ruto engaged in crucial discussions with the leadership of both countries, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.
In Ghana, President Ruto met with his counterpart, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, where the two leaders focused on enhancing trade and investment relations.
“We have agreed to strengthen our economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture, technology, and infrastructure,” President Ruto stated in a post-meeting address.
The discussions also touched on regional security issues, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of peaceful cooperation within Africa.
Ruto then continued his diplomatic journey to Angola, where he met with President João Lourenço.
The focus of their discussions included deepening trade partnerships and expanding cooperation in the energy and oil sectors.
“Kenya and Angola have great potential for collaboration in the energy sector, and we are committed to exploring opportunities for mutual benefit,” President Ruto said after his meeting in Luanda.
The visit also provided a platform for Kenya to discuss possible partnerships in infrastructure development and regional peace initiatives.
The president’s visit to both countries is seen as part of Kenya’s broader strategy to foster stronger ties with African nations, particularly in key sectors such as trade, investment, and security.
As he returned to Nairobi, President Ruto emphasized that these visits were integral to Kenya’s long-term foreign policy, aimed at positioning the country as a key player in continental affairs.
“Our engagements in Ghana and Angola are a testament to Kenya’s commitment to fostering stronger, mutually beneficial relationships across Africa,” he concluded.
