Ten-year-old boy drowns in dam in Nairegie Enkare, Narok County


A ten-year-old boy drowned in a dam as he and other friends swam therein in Nairegie Enkare, Narok County.

Police said the juvenile was in the company of other boys and was busy swimming when he drowned.

The body was later retrieved and moved to the mortuary following the November 20 incident.

Police said they are investigating the tragedy.

And three police officers were injured after their vehicle collided with a commuter passenger train that was headed from Miritini terminus to Mombasa Railways station.

The train hit the police land rover in the Jomvu area in the accident, police said.

The officers were headed for a scene of crime when the incident happened. They were slightly injured and taken to a local hospital for medical attention pending investigations, police said.

In Ngati area, Muranga County, two suspects were arrested and 42 pieces of fresh pineapples recovered from them in a police operation.

This followed reports more suspects were venturing into the Del Monte farm to steal the products.

Local officials have launched an operation dubbed Operation Linda Mananasi aimed at addressing the menace.

Gangs had been raiding the expansive farms for the products which ironically they sold in the area.

Several suspects have since been arrested and charged in court in the operation.

In Kehancha, Migori County, two suspects were arrested after being found with a homemade gun. One of the suspects, police said, had a fresh wound which raised their suspicion. The suspects were taken to custody pending investigations over crime in the area.

And police in Kakamega’s Butere area are investigating an incident where a power transformer was vandalized.

This left the village in darkness. A team of detectives with officials from Kenya Power and Lighting visited the scene as part of the probe into the incident. Such incidents are common in villages amid an operation to address them.
