Two suspects are in police custody after Kondele authorities seized a large quantity of suspected stolen goods during a well-coordinated operation in the Kenya-RE estate, Lolwe.
The suspects, Fredrick Oduor Obonyo, 36, and Eric Wesonga Wamere, were apprehended on charges of receiving and selling stolen property, following a string of recent break-ins in the Kondele area.
The police operation, based on intelligence gathered from the community, led officers to the suspects’ residences, where they recovered several items believed to have been stolen from local homes.
Among the seized goods were three high-end smart TVs – including a 55-inch Bruhm, a 50-inch LG, and a 50-inch Hisense.
In addition, two sound systems, including a Sony and a Rhm, as well as multiple DSTV decoders and three mobile phones, were found at the scene.
The suspects also had other electronics and household items that are still being cataloged by investigators.
Authorities have begun the process of identifying the rightful owners of the recovered items, with police urging victims of recent burglaries to come forward and assist in the identification.
The stolen goods were reportedly taken from several homes in Kondele, where break-ins had been reported over the past few weeks.
The two suspects, Fredrick Oduor Obonyo and Eric Wesonga Wamere, are currently being held at the Kondele Police Station as investigations continue.
Police have emphasized their commitment to curbing the rising wave of thefts in the area and are encouraging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
This arrest is part of an ongoing effort by local law enforcement to address criminal activities in Kisumu County and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
