15-year-old boy dies after alleged assault in Migori

Police in Migori County launched investigations into the death of a 15-year-old boy following an alleged assault in Kuria East Sub-County.

The incident occurred in Nyamagenga Village on March 29, police said.

Police visited the scene and found the body of the minor lying lifeless on his bed.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had earlier been playing football with other children when a man allegedly confronted them while armed with a stick. He is said to have been angered by claims that the children had left goats unattended to join the game.

Police say the man allegedly assaulted one child, who managed to escape, before turning on him and striking him on the head while he was seated, causing him to lose consciousness.

The injured boy was assisted home by other children, after which his mother rushed him to Maeta Dispensary, where he was treated, stitched, and discharged.

However, on the morning of March 29 at around 7:00 a.m., his mother reportedly found him unresponsive in bed.
