Police are investigating an incident where a 21-year-old man was shot by an unknown assailant while at his place of work along Kirinyaga Road in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
The victim was reportedly shot in the abdomen by an unidentified person under circumstances that are still under investigation.
A relative informed police that the injured man had been rushed to Guru Nanak Ramgarhia Sikh Hospital for emergency treatment.
Police officers from Central Police Station visited both the scene and the hospital, where they found the victim admitted in stable condition.
He was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the shooting and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, a police officer was injured after being knocked down by a motorcycle rider who allegedly defied orders to stop during a patrol in Nairobi’s Majengo slums.
The incident occurred Thursday along the Air Force perimeter wall near the Salvation Army Church in Kitui Village within Buruburu Sub-County, according to police.
Police officers on patrol reportedly spotted a suspicious motorcycle and attempted to stop it for inspection. However, the rider allegedly ignored the order and rammed into a police constable
The officer sustained injuries to the chest and right leg and also lost one upper tooth in the incident.
The suspect was immediately arrested, and the motorcycle was detained pending further investigations.
The injured officer was rushed to Nairobi West Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
Police have launched investigations into the incident, with the rider expected to face appropriate charges.
The victim complained of pain on Thursday. Police said they were interrogating the suspect to establish if he has any criminal links.
