Can you Hide Reposts on TikTok?

TikTok’s repost feature allows users to share someone else’s video with their followers, similar to a retweet on X (formerly Twitter). When you repost a video, it does not appear on your personal profile, but it does show up in the feeds of your followers, marked as “Reposted by [your username].” This tool is designed to help good content travel faster, giving visibility to videos you find entertaining or meaningful.

However, sometimes users want to keep their repost activity private. Whether it’s to maintain a clean feed for their audience or to avoid sharing a post by mistake, many are now asking if it’s possible to hide reposts on TikTok.

Can You Hide Reposts on TikTok?

Currently, TikTok does not offer a dedicated privacy setting that allows users to hide all their reposts from others. Once you repost a video, it becomes visible to your followers in their “For You” feed, labeled with your username. This means that reposts are not completely private.

That said, reposts do not appear on your main profile page like your own videos. This makes them slightly more discreet compared to your original content. Only those following you may see your reposted videos in their feed, and they will not find a list of your reposts by visiting your profile.

How to Manage Your Reposts

Although you cannot hide reposts directly, you can undo them. If you change your mind after reposting a video, you can simply go back to that video, tap the share icon again, and select “Remove Repost.” This will instantly withdraw the repost, and it will no longer appear to your followers.

Also, TikTok gives users the ability to disable the repost feature entirely. By going to the app’s settings, then navigating to your “Repost” preferences under “Privacy,” you can switch off the feature to prevent yourself from accidentally reposting content in the future.

Why It Matters

Many TikTok users are becoming more conscious of what they share, especially in a time where digital identity and online perception carry significant weight. Whether it’s avoiding spammy content or maintaining a professional image, managing reposts is part of how users control their online presence.
