How to Turn On TikTok Dark Mode

Dark mode is a popular display option that changes the app’s background from white to black, reducing eye strain and saving battery life on mobile devices. TikTok, like many modern apps, supports dark mode to enhance user experience, especially in low-light environments. Enabling dark mode on TikTok is simple, but the steps may vary depending on your device. Here is how to turn on TikTok dark mode.

Turning On Dark Mode on iPhone

If you’re using an iPhone, TikTok provides a built-in dark mode option that allows you to switch between light and dark themes manually or automatically based on your phone’s settings.

To turn on dark mode within the TikTok app, open the app and go to your profile by tapping the “Profile” icon in the bottom right corner. From there, tap the three-line menu (≡) or the settings icon at the top right corner of your screen to open “Settings and privacy.” Scroll down to find the “Display” or “Content and Display” section, then tap on “Dark Mode.” You’ll be given the option to choose either “Light,” “Dark,” or “Use device settings.” If you want TikTok to match your phone’s system-wide dark mode, select “Use device settings.”

Alternatively, you can go to your iPhone’s system settings, tap “Display & Brightness,” and switch to dark mode. If TikTok is set to follow device settings, it will automatically change its theme.

Turning On Dark Mode on Android

As of now, TikTok’s dark mode feature is not consistently available across all Android devices. While some versions of the app may support it, others may not show the option due to gradual rollout or device compatibility. If your app supports it, the steps are similar to those on iOS.

Open the TikTok app and go to your profile. Tap the menu icon in the top right corner and select “Settings and privacy.” Scroll to “Display” or “Content and Display” and check if “Dark Mode” is available. If it is, you can switch it on manually or set it to follow your device settings.

In case the dark mode option is missing from TikTok, you can still force a system-wide dark theme on your Android device. Go to your phone’s “Settings,” tap “Display,” then select “Dark theme” or “Night Mode” and activate it. Keep in mind that this may not affect TikTok if the app version does not support dark mode on Android.

Updating TikTok for the Latest Features

If you can’t find dark mode on your app, make sure your TikTok is updated to the latest version. Visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, search for TikTok, and tap “Update” if the button is available. Updates often bring new features, including improved compatibility with dark mode.
