Starting Friday, August 29, 2025, all payments for entry, parking, and related services at Nairobi’s Karura Forest including the Sigiria block must be made exclusively through the government’s eCitizen platform, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has announced.
The directive follows a National Treasury policy requiring the phase-out of non-designated payment systems, as part of broader efforts to centralize and streamline public revenue collection.
In a statement, KFS said:
“This transition is part of a nationwide initiative to improve transparency, security, and efficiency in public service delivery while making your experience more convenient.”
Visitors will be required to use the official eCitizen Paybill number 222222 for all transactions.

KFS emphasized that all other forest operations and services will continue uninterrupted and reaffirmed its ongoing partnership with the Community Forest Association.
Karura Forest, a key urban conservation and recreation area, remains popular with Nairobi residents and tourists alike for activities such as jogging, cycling, walking, and picnicking.
“We invite you to continue enjoying Karura Forest and welcome your feedback to help us enhance our services,” KFS added.
