Witnesses claim the attackers posed as mourners before unleashing mayhem, stealing valuables and vandalising vehicles.

Among those caught in the fracas was Gengetone artiste Gwaash, who narrowly escaped with his life after his car was attacked by the thugs.

Moments later, he took to social media to share a video showing his car’s shattered windscreen, revealing how the goons had tried to rob him.

Despite the frightening ordeal, Gwaash thanked God for keeping him safe and used the moment to urge fellow youths to shun crime and embrace peace.

“Watu wengine wanakuwanga na za ovyo mbaya. Sasa mimi nimetoka mazishi ya Shalkido tena wanataka kunituma Zayuni. So ukigonga gari hivi inakusaidia na nini? Leo tumelay our brother Shalkido to rest. Rest in peace king. Mazishi ilikua poa. Mbogi ilitokea. Najua kwenye yuko amefurahia. Watu waishi na amani. Kuharibia mtu vitu zake hakuna kitu inasaidia. Sasa hii ni nini?” he lamented.

His heartfelt post quickly attracted reactions from netizens and fellow celebrities, who condemned the attackers as opportunistic thugs disguising themselves as mourners.

Many expressed disappointment, saying such acts tarnish the memory of the deceased and the unity of the Gengetone community.

Despite the unfortunate turn of events, the day remained a powerful reminder of how deeply Shalkido’s music touched the hearts of many.

His burial, though marred by chaos, reflected the massive impact he had on Kenyan youth and the Gengetone movement.

As the sun set over Juja, one thing was clear, Shalkido’s legacy lives on, not just in his songs, but in the hearts of the thousands who came to celebrate his life one last time.
